Here is a short video (2 mins) from Darren Lacroix about connecting and developing you humour skills.
Darren talks about Dale Carnegie who, when was asked about the difference between a good and a great speech, said “100 speeches”.
You don’t have to wait that long. You can accelerate your speaking by entering a Toastmasters contest and there is still time to enter the club contests (Humorous Speech and Table Topics) that are taking place this Thursday.
Even if you don’t think you will win, I guarantee that taking part in a contest will take your speaking skills to a new level.
If you can have a humorous speech ready by Thursday evening or you ‘feel the fear’ of doing a Table Topic but will ‘do it anyway’ , contact the club’s VPE Stephen Dix at firstname.lastname@example.org and sign up for the contest.
It really is not about winning but about taking part. On the other hand, you can deliver 100 speeches.
