There are still a few places available at the 2013 Annual Awards Dinner and Tall Tales Contest.

The Annual Dinner and Tall Tales Contest has been such a success in the last few years that we don’t want any of our members to miss out.

It’s on Friday 21 June 2013 at the Jury’s Inn, 43 Jeffrey Street, Edinburgh EH1 1DH.

We are limited to 32 places, so to make sure of your place, you have to book by Wednesday!

The ticket is only £24 for:

  • a delicious  3 course meal + 1 glass of wine (perhaps more)
  • Tall Tales contest where you are the judges
  • awards presentation for Toastmaster of the Year,and Communicators Award for the most improved speaker
  • meet and chat to your fellow members in a relaxed, convivial night out

Dress is smart/casual.

And to tempt your tastebuds here is the menu:


Spanish chorizo & new potatoes salad drizzled with lime vinegar

Crispy crumbed brie with cranberry dip and crostini (v)

Soup of the Day (v)


Baked fillet of haddock moray with sauté leeks & lemon

Individual baked tender beef & Guinness pie with veg & herbs

Wok fried seasonal veg drizzled in chilli & garlic topped with crispy noodles (v)


Chocolate fudge cake with sauce

Lemon cheesecake with exotic fruit coulis

Fresh fruit salad


Wine/Drinks A glass of wine will be provided free with the meal.

And you can also pre-order a bottle of wine at discounted rates – (Whites: Chardonnay £14.40; Pinot Grigio £15.30; Sauvignon Blanc £16.20; or Reds: Cabernet Sauvignon £14.45; Merlot £15.35).

Other drinks, including wine by the glass can be bought on the night at the bar/from waiting staff.

To confirm your place at the dinner all you have to do is email Duncan Thompson at 

with your menu choices and special dietary requirements  before Wednesday 19th June, and deposit £24 (+ cost of any pre-ordered

wine) into the club bank account stating your name in the reference field (bank details from Duncan).
